Evaluation Nurse

About the role

The Evaluation Nurse will support a three‑month under‑5 mortality audit by collecting and abstracting data from health facilities in accordance with approved study protocols. The role involves ensuring data quality, maintaining confidentiality, and supporting site‑level implementation of the study.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in under‑5 mortality audit data collection at designated study sites following approved protocols.
• Abstract and record data from clinic registers, patient files and ART documentation using standardized tools.
• Ensure accuracy, completeness and consistency of all collected data, resolving discrepancies as needed.
• Maintain secure and confidential storage of study records in line with data protection and ethics requirements.
• Monitor and support implementation of study activities at site level, providing weekly updates to the Study Coordinator.
• Support data quality assurance through routine checks, audits and adherence to protocols.
• Collaborate with facility staff, District Health Management Teams and program teams to ensure smooth study execution.

Required profile

• Minimum Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery and registration with the Lesotho Nursing Council.
• Previous experience in evaluation or data collection in public health or HIV/ART programs is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to maintain confidentiality and follow evaluation ethics.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Basic computer literacy with experience in data entry and Microsoft Office.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English and Sesotho.
